Gratitude

“During a recent discussion I had with a friend, she mentioned that while she was enduring a difficult time in her life, she was nevertheless grateful for everyday and every blessing.

My friend’s daughter, a young woman in her mid-20’s, had severed ties with her mother, ostensibly over a falling out of sorts that the latter had with her daughter’s boyfriend.

What resonated with me, though, is that despite being as heartbroken as she is, my friend—a serious Catholic—nevertheless remains convicted of the necessity of being grateful for her life.

Her comment should serve as a reminder to every Christian who needs reminding of a crucial truth:

‘The world is a gift.'”
